Newly engaged & freaking out!

The Question

I have booked my wedding venue and registrar today. I’m just at the start and absolutely freaking out!

Congratulations! Firstly, don’t panic.

You really do not have to have everything figured out yet. There is a lot that can be done, but that doesn’t mean it all needs to be done right now. Take a breath and enjoy the fact that you’ve booked your venue, that’s a big one (and honestly where it all starts) ticked off the list.

Next, I would think about what you actually want from your day; your guest list and your budget (though I assume you have an idea of both now that you have booked your venue!). These three things (Venue, Guest List, Budget) will give you a really good starting point for the decisions that come next, and will help you work out where your priorities are.

Now you can start getting into the details of what you both want that make your wedding feel like you.

Think about the things you’re genuinely excited about, the parts of the day that matter to you, and where you’d rather keep things simple. You don’t need to make every decision immediately, and you definitely don’t need to add things just because you’ve seen them at other weddings.

I have put together a free Wedding Starter Kit which takes you through the things you can now think about.

Hopefully it helps you get your head around where to go next, gives you some direction, and makes the whole process feel a little less overwhelming!
